  2. I am thankful

Today I am thankful for life. I am thankful for the privilege of living in a place with electricity, clean running water, a sense of peace, order and law. I am thankful for good souls in my life. I am thankful for the chance to say things to the people I care about and to be wise enough to share honestly and from my heart. I am thankful for wisdom that comes from experience. I am thankful for the storms I’ve endured, they have made me better and smarter and I am thankful for all the joy and beauty that is in my life on a daily basis. I am truly a blessed person!

  4. Magic mouthwash is saving my life right now. I have strep throat. This works for any bad sore throat or mouth sores. It’s 1/2 Pepto Bismol (or generic equivalent) and 1/2 Childrens Benadryl mixed together in the Pepto Bismol cup. I gargle with it for 60 seconds and it helps me out soooo much.

  5. Pursuing Fame is LAME!

I feel so sad that there is a generation of young people out there whose life pursuit is ‘to become a ‘celebrity’ or ‘get famous’. Some of the messages and DMs I get from people (teenagers mostly) break my heart. "How Do I get famous?", "How Can I be a Celebrity?" are questions I get on a daily basis now. How did this happen?

It used to be you were talented or made a significant contribution to the world that then brought ‘fame’ (sometimes), but the actual pursuit in life wasn’t to be ‘famous’. The pursuit was to be incredibly awesome at what you did and people lauded you for that (sometimes).

Pursuing fame is pointless and a huge waste of your time… but I think this is what Reality TV has brought to us. Help us all…

Some of these kids say they want to be special and not like anyone else. The thing is, they already are! What is failing in our social system that makes people think they need to ‘be famous’ to be special? Every person out there is special and has the potential to do amazing things with their time on earth.

YOU already are special. Go out there and be the best YOU there is and enjoy your life!

I had to vent. It’s driving me nuts to read some of these messages.

About me

I'm not one for writing hugely long blog posts, but I thought I'd share some of my thoughts here from time to time. I might ramble sometimes, use improper grammar, stick my foot in my mouth, not make sense, sometimes make sense... hey, I'm just working my thoughts out in front of the world, aren't we all to some degree?.
Who am I? I'm Natalie Brown, a Canadian songwriter and vocalist living her dream every day, trying to make sense of the world through words and music. I love life! Check out the music tab to listen to some of what I do and if you want more info feel free to visit my website or sign up to my mailing list.
